Baby Swimming – Day 10

Wow! This is already the 10th post about our weekly visit to the baby swimming course at the Berlin Accident Hospital!

This time my sister sat in the stands and took lots of photos.

I will tell you what happened in the course today.

Baby Swimming – Day 10
Today the singing circle dragged on for a while, I don’t know… It’s usually a lot of fun to drive through Splash Town, Splash Village, Kicking Village and Bouncy Town with the little ones. But today it somehow felt longer. It could also be that I really wanted to dive in and get the singing circle over with quickly. Who knows.

wizard, elf, goblin

When we were done with the splashing, splashing, kicking, lifting and spinning, we came to a modified form of the fire-water-storm game, which we played in the 5th period .

We ran and jumped in circles through the water with the children. During the “magician” game, the children were stirred in the water like wooden spoons. During the “elf” game, we lifted the children out of the water and during the evil “goblin” game, we had to quickly rescue the children and put them on the edge of the pool.

Sometimes the terms were combined. For “elf” and “goblin” we had to hold the children above the water and bring them to the edge of the pool and set them down there. That was definitely a good workout for my arms!

circuit training
The instructor called this exercise circuit training, but as you will see, it wasn’t really one.

There were 4 stations in total, one at each corner of the pool.

At the first station, the children grabbed a Styrofoam usa mobile database building block and were lured to the second station.

and wanted to grab Oli’s building block. But his dad managed to lure him further with his own building block. Oli and Vincent were the last ones. They took their time and preferred to float around in the water while the others rushed ahead.

When we finally arrived at the second station, the building block was thrown into a bucket and a colorful swimming board was grabbed. The children were then supposed to be laid on their stomachs on the board and transported to the next station.

Personally, I always find these boards really annoying. With the 1000 mobile phone numbers big buoyancy aids that the children wear on their arms, it’s awkward to put them on the boards. I managed to get Oli on them a few times, but eventually he stopped liking the thing and preferred to be carried. That way we made much faster progress and we soon caught up with the others.

At the third station, bathing gloves and sponges were available for the children to take. They were then used to massage their backs while they were pushed to the fourth and final station.
